PRIVACY STATEMENT - BRUSSELS AIRPORT LAB

Brussels Airport Company NV ("Brussels Airport") values your privacy and therefore takes the necessary measures to protect your personal data in accordance with (i) the General Data Protection Regulation of 25 May 2018, (ii) the Belgian Act law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, and (iii) the Brussels Airport General Privacy Statement.
Brussels Airport processes certain personal data in the context of the Brussels Airport Lab. The types of personal data processed in this context and the circumstances in which this is done are explained in this LAB Privacy Statement. In addition, these provisions supplement Brussels Airport's general privacy statement. In the event of any differences between Brussels Airport's General Privacy Statement and the LAB Privacy Statement, the provisions of the latter shall prevail. Capitalized terms not defined herein shall have the meaning ascribed to them in the Brussels Airport General Privacy Statement or in the Brussels Airport Lab Terms of Use.
Brussels Airport Company NV/SA, Auguste Reyerslaan 80, B-1030 Brussels, is the controller of the personal data falling within the scope of this privacy statement, unless otherwise specified.
2. Processing of personal data for the Brussels Airport Lab
Anyone can visit our websites without having to identify themselves (a "Visitor"). Visitors who wish to participate in the programme must complete a register form, without creating an account ("Participants").
This privacy statement applies only to the processing of personal data by or on behalf of Brussels Airport.
2.1. Visitors
If you visit this website and do not register for the programme, Brussels Airport will only process a limited amount of personal data. This data is always processed, whether you are a visitor or a participant.
Types of personal data and purposes
- Electronic data and information about your browsing behaviour: this includes the IP address of your electronic device or data that enables us to understand how you use Brussels Airport Lab (for example, the type of browser and the pages visited). This information is collected through cookies or other automatic technologies and is processed in order to evaluate and improve the website and to provide technical support (see Cookie Policy).
Retention period
- Brussels Airport Lab's data is processed for the retention period of the cookie(s) concerned, as indicated in the Cookie Policy.
2.2. Participants
Types of personal data and purposes Brussels Airport may process the following personal data of participants:
- Personal identification data: this includes your e-mail address, your first and last name, your date of birth, your gender, your place of residence, your nationality, your postcode, your language, the composition of your family, whether or not you have children and the age of your eldest child. This data is processed for the purposes of (i) identifying you and (ii) segmenting your profile so that we can best estimate the prototype we would like you to test.
- Other personal data relating to your experience of the airport: the frequency of your flights, the purpose of your journeys, your experience of visiting a particular airport (stress). This data is processed to find out what you think about our airport and to better understand the feedback you provide when you test our products and services.
Retention Period
- This data will be kept for a maximum of five years from the date of your registration with Brussels Airport Lab. At the end of this period, all data will be made anonymous.
3. Sharing of personal data as part of the Brussels Airport Lab
3.1 Personal data shared with third parties (service providers)
In order to provide the Brussels Airport Lab, Brussels Airport uses the services of third parties, including, but not limited to, IT hosting providers, IT platforms, telecommunications providers, etc. Brussels Airport may share your personal data with these third parties in connection with the Brussels Airport Lab. Brussels Airport may share your personal data with these third parties in the context of the Brussels Airport Lab. These service providers are limited to processing your personal data in accordance with our instructions for the performance of their services.
4. International transfer of personal data
Brussels Airport always prefers the processing of personal data to take place within the European Union. Due to the nature of certain processes (for example, if 24/7 support is required), personal data may in some cases be transferred to processors located outside the EEA.
Even if the data centre is located within the EEA, access from outside the EEA may still be possible (for example, in the event of technical problems or where 24/7 support is required). This is also considered to be a transfer of data outside the EEA. For some processes, subcontractors' data centres may be located outside the EEA or there may be access from outside the EEA, for example the United States of America. Even if the transfer takes place via an adequacy mechanism, Brussels Airport remains vigilant to ensure that third parties offer a sufficiently high level of protection.
5. Your rights with regard to personal data
In accordance with the applicable data protection legislation, you have a number of rights in certain cases concerning (the processing of) your personal data:
- Right to access your personal data.
- Right to modify your (incorrect) personal data.
- Right to delete your personal data.
- Right to restrict the processing of your personal data. You may also request to restrict the processing of your personal data for specific purposes.
- Right to object to the processing of your personal data and to automated individual decisions, including profiling (where applicable).
- The right to transfer your personal data.
- Right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority .
